Description

Bon Appetit is hiring a Sous Chef to support culinary leadership at Carthage College. The role leads daily kitchen operations across dining venues, retail locations, catering, and special events; supports menu execution, food quality, safety, inventory, food costs, scheduling, and team development; and partners with the Executive Chef and other departments. Candidates should have culinary leadership and high-volume food service experience, strong food safety and HACCP knowledge, and relevant hospitality training or equivalent experience. The position offers a salary of $65,000–$75,000 and a comprehensive benefits package.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Culinary degree, technical training, apprenticeship, or equivalent professional experience
Required Previous Experiences: Culinary leadership experience in restaurants, hotels, resorts, corporate dining, catering, higher education, or related hospitality environments
Experience working in high-volume food service operations
Experience leading or mentoring kitchen staff in a fast-paced environment
Catering or banquet experience
Experience with inventory controls, ordering, and food cost management
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in hotels, resorts, restaurants, corporate dining, catering, or multi-outlet hospitality operations
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, culinary trends, and kitchen operations
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while maintaining attention to detail
Scratch cooking experience and commitment to high-quality ingredients
Proficiency with food service technology and Microsoft Office applications
