Umbra is hiring a Spacecraft Mechanical Engineer for its Mission Solutions business unit to design, build, and test spacecraft hardware and mechanisms for defense and intelligence missions. The role is based on-site in Reston, Virginia and involves cross-functional collaboration, prototyping, documentation, test planning, and troubleshooting, with a strong emphasis on first-principles engineering, CAD, FEA, and manufacturability. The position requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or physics field, 3-5+ years of mechanical engineering experience, and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
