Workday is hiring a Senior Distributed Systems (DevOps) Engineer to design and automate infrastructure for its distributed cloud platform, manage CI/CD pipelines, maintain highly available web and backend systems, secure infrastructure, and build monitoring, alerting, and developer-productivity tools. The role requires extensive DevOps, database, Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, and cloud-automation experience and offers a flexible work arrangement requiring at least 50% of the time each quarter in the office or in the field.

Required Previous Experiences: 7+ years of DevOps experience
5+ years of database administration experience with Postgres, MariaDB, or MSSQL
4+ years orchestrating large-scale distributed microservice deployments on Kubernetes and EC2
4+ years building and managing EKS clusters with strong knowledge of the Kubernetes ecosystem
Preferred Qualifications: BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in large-scale systems
Deep AWS expertise and multi-region environment management with Terraform
Ability to build automation tooling in Python, TypeScript, Go, or Bash
Advanced Kubernetes and Docker experience with service mesh, canary deployments, and system resilience
Experience scaling and troubleshooting high-availability databases and message-queuing clusters
Proficiency with monitoring, logging, and security-centric CI pipelines
Ability to debug and optimize complex systems across networking and application layers
Security-focused approach to infrastructure as code, container builds, and microservice deployments
