AWS is hiring a Senior Linux Kernel Engineer for its Dresden-based team to develop secure, stable, and performant Linux kernel builds for Amazon Linux. The role involves diagnosing regressions and crashes, creating upstreamable kernel fixes, contributing to the upstream Linux community, designing new kernel functionality, and mentoring or hiring engineers. Responsibilities include on-call support, typically 12 hours during the day in partnership with a United States-based team. The position requires a bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent, experience leading engineering work, and a history of Linux kernel or low-level device driver development; knowledge of system performance, memory management, and parallel computing is preferred.
