Description
SpaceX is hiring a Senior Materials Engineer, Thin Films to partner with solar cell process engineering on PECVD-deposited films that determine the optical and electrical performance of in-sourced Starlink cells. The role develops materials requirements and film-property targets, leads complex materials projects and root-cause analyses, defines specifications and acceptance criteria, qualifies precursors and film stacks, coordinates with suppliers, and mentors engineers. It requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant STEM discipline and at least five years of professional experience with thin films, PECVD or other vacuum-deposited coatings, or electronic materials in a manufacturing or R&D environment. The position may require travel to other SpaceX sites or vendors, physical work in laboratory and manufacturing environments, and extended hours or weekends as needed.
