SpaceX is hiring a Senior Optical Engineer (STARFALL) to own the system-level design, validation, and operation of a visible-camera and infrared navigation sensor. The role leads optical, IR, mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing trades; develops hardware, circuits, fixtures, and tools; performs environmental, reliability, fault-injection, and field testing; investigates anomalies; and mentors engineers. Candidates need a bachelor’s degree in optical engineering, physics, or another engineering discipline, at least five years of relevant laboratory or design/testing experience, and five years of experience with a computer programming language. The position offers a base salary of $165,000 to $230,000 plus medical, vision, dental, retirement, disability, life, paid leave, and other benefits.
