Description

Encode, Inc. is hiring an Information Security Systems Engineer to support managed network infrastructures and services for federal government customers. The role focuses on SIEM infrastructure and system administration, including managing and optimizing SIEM platforms, developing dashboards, rules, connectors, and parsers, administering Linux and Windows systems, configuring security devices, maintaining documentation and configurations, and mentoring junior staff. The position is on-site in Melbourne, Florida, may require weekend, after-hours, or on-call rotations, and may require travel to a disaster recovery site.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, IT Security, or a related field; alternatively, a graduate degree in the same fields or 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
Required Previous Experiences: At least 2 years of network security engineering experience, including SIEM technologies.
1–2 years of Security Operations experience, including analyst, forensics, or threat hunting.
At least 1 year of networking experience, including data flow and complex customer troubleshooting.
At least 1 year of experience with routing protocols, VPNs, VLANs, SPANs, TCP/IP, and the OSI model.
At least 1 year of experience with engineering processes, including SP 800-160 Vol 1 or higher.
1 year of Linux command-line experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Linux and Windows command-line tools.
Experience collecting and analyzing system logs and event data for root cause analysis.
Familiarity with network security and identity management technologies.
Prior federal telecommunications and network security experience.
Security certifications such as CompTIA Security+, ISC2 CC, or CEH.
Relevant certifications such as Cisco CyberOps, CND, GIAC, CySA+, or Pentest+.
Project engineering experience in security-related environments.
Experience with network security event and intrusion detection architectures.
Proficiency in system logs and log analysis.
Familiarity with NIST SP800-53, NIST SP800-171, and FISMA policies.
Ability to assist and lead teammates in multidisciplinary teams.
Experience serving government customers in a security environment.
Prior experience with state or federal government WAN architecture.
