Renesas is hiring a Senior Staff Edge AI Applications Engineer to lead its physical Edge AI Applications Lab in Columbia, Maryland. The role owns the lab, directs R&D and proof-of-concept hardware builds, manages project scheduling, and mentors junior engineers. Responsibilities include assembling sensor rigs, capturing and preprocessing high-frequency time-series data, designing DSP pipelines, and deploying quantized TinyML models on Renesas microcontrollers. The position requires an M.S. or Ph.D. in a relevant technical discipline, 7–12+ years of embedded hardware and edge computing experience, and expertise in C/C++, DSP, low-level debugging, and microcontroller firmware.
