Lightmatter is hiring a Laser Design Engineer to own the design of high-power laser epitaxial structures and DFB, DBR, and external-cavity laser devices for AI communications and computation. The role covers III-V epitaxial layer stacks, cavity optimization, physics-based device simulation, characterization collaboration, cross-functional hardware co-design, manufacturing qualification, and subject-matter expertise. Candidates need a relevant Ph.D. with at least five years of post-degree experience or an M.S. with at least eight years of relevant experience, along with expertise in semiconductor lasers, laser physics, and photonic simulation tools. The position offers a base salary of $212,000–$320,000 USD, equity, and a flexible hybrid workplace model.
