Description
The Staff Backend Engineer will own high-consequence distributed backend problems across services, teams, or product domains, establish architectural boundaries, lead technical trade-offs, and improve production reliability, scalability, data integrity, and observability. The role is hands-on where needed, mentors senior engineers, and partners with engineering and product leaders on technical direction. Candidates need substantial impact across multiple teams, deep experience with distributed systems, relational databases, transactions, concurrency, and high-performance design, plus strong communication and engineering judgement. The role is assessed through ownership, judgement, and sustained organisational impact rather than years of experience.
