GitLab is hiring a Senior or Staff Backend Engineer for its Database Excellence group to build and operate Go-based automation for PostgreSQL as a service. The role covers provisioning, configuration, upgrades, failover, scaling, decommissioning, infrastructure-as-code integration, cloud data services, production operations, performance and data-health improvements, and cross-team collaboration. Candidates need production PostgreSQL experience, Go proficiency, database-operator or comparable automation experience, and strong asynchronous communication skills; Ruby familiarity is a plus. The role is fully remote and offers a United States base salary range of $152,800 to $259,200 USD.
