Description

Proofpoint is hiring a Staff Data Engineer to design, build, and operate large-scale AWS data infrastructure for its cybersecurity products and analytics. The role covers data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, delivery, governance, quality, reliability, and production troubleshooting, while also mentoring engineers and leading technical design discussions. Candidates need at least 8 years of software or data engineering experience, including 4 years focused on cloud data platforms, along with AWS, Python, PySpark, SQL, and data engineering leadership experience.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
Required Previous Experiences: 8+ years of professional software or data engineering experience
At least 4 years focused on cloud data platforms
Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical design discussions
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with real-time or streaming data processing using Apache Kafka, Amazon Kinesis, or AWS Glue Streaming ETL
Familiarity with AWS Lake Formation for fine-grained access control and data governance
Knowledge of Amazon Redshift or other cloud data warehouses
Experience with data quality frameworks such as Great Expectations or Deequ
Background in cybersecurity, threat intelligence, or security analytics data
AWS Certified Data Engineer – Associate or AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification
Contributions to open-source data engineering projects or publications
