Description

The Staff Data Engineer provides senior technical leadership for enterprise data platforms, pipelines, and solutions. The role architects batch, real-time, and event-driven data systems; develops tabular and dimensional models; optimizes large-scale distributed processing; establishes data quality, governance, observability, CI/CD, security, and incident-management standards; leads code reviews and technical escalations; mentors engineers; and guides distributed and offshore teams. The position requires extensive experience in data engineering, SQL, Python, cloud services, workflow orchestration, and data modeling, and offers a base salary of $128,500 to $276,000 plus potential bonus and benefits.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: 9 years of experience building data solutions, relational and non-relational databases, and batch and real-time data pipelines using cloud services
7 years of experience in dimensional or tabular data modeling, including leading design reviews
Experience with CI/CD, automated deployments, and DevOps best practices at scale
Expertise writing and optimizing complex SQL queries in high-volume environments
Experience tuning queries and debugging large-scale distributed ETL, ELT, and streaming jobs
7 years of Python development, including serverless and cloud-native services such as AWS Lambda
Experience building pipelines to integrate with APIs
Experience orchestrating complex data workflows with Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, or similar tools
Knowledge of Linux system administration, shell scripting, and networking at scale
Hands-on experience with PowerBI or similar reporting tools
Experience with cloud data warehouses, preferably Snowflake
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
Experience defining disaster recovery and backup policies for enterprise-scale data platforms
Proven track record of mentoring and technically leading engineers across multiple teams
Experience influencing data engineering strategy, architecture, and standards across an organization
Experience evaluating and integrating emerging data technologies into production environments
Experience working with and technically leading offshore engineering teams
