Description

ARA is hiring a Staff Engineer to support the design, development, integration, testing, qualification, and fielding of complex underwater and undersea systems. The role covers requirements development, system architecture, engineering analysis, prototype development, system-level reviews, data analysis, troubleshooting, and technical risk management. It is an on-site position in Panama City, Florida, with possible hybrid work requiring at least three office days per week and regular travel to Newport, Rhode Island. Candidates need a relevant engineering degree and 5–7 years of recent and relevant complex-systems experience, with underwater-systems and multidisciplinary integration experience preferred.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
Required Previous Experiences: 5–7 years of recent and relevant engineering experience supporting complex systems development
Experience applying systems engineering principles to complex engineered systems
Experience with requirements decomposition, traceability, verification, validation, and technical baseline management
Preferred Qualifications: Understanding of underwater system operating environments
Experience integrating multidisciplinary underwater subsystems
Experience developing system architectures and requirements documentation
Familiarity with model-based systems engineering practices
Working knowledge of mechanical engineering principles for underwater systems
Ability to translate mission objectives into system requirements and engineering solutions
