Description

SPAN is hiring a Staff Reliability Engineer to lead its reliability team and technical direction across electrical, mechanical, environmental, and systems-level product testing. The role owns the Design for Reliability program, reliability test planning and execution, statistical analysis, root-cause analysis, CAPA implementation, third-party lab relationships, and the development of in-house testing capabilities. It requires a BS or MS in a relevant engineering or materials science field, at least 8 years of reliability engineering experience, and proficiency with Python, statistical analysis, test automation, and hands-on laboratory testing.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, or a related engineering field
Required Previous Experiences: 8+ years of reliability engineering experience, including ownership of multi-discipline product reliability programs
Deep experience with DFMEA, reliability test planning and execution, and translating laboratory data into product requirements
Strong background in statistical analysis of design-of-experiments and reliability test data
Proficiency with Python or similar scripting languages for test automation, data logging, and analysis
Hands-on experience designing test rigs, using metrological instrumentation, and running reliability tests in environmental chambers
Ability to communicate across electromagnetism, electronics, mechanical and materials physics, and hardware reliability and safety
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting technical findings to engineers and leadership
Preferred Qualifications: Experience mentoring or organizing engineers and technicians on a project or program basis
Experience working safely with high-voltage equipment and AC/DC power systems
Knowledge of UL, NEC, IEC, and ISO safety and regulatory standards
Experience creating or scaling an in-house reliability laboratory
Experience with connected home, energy, or IoT hardware products
Experience with corrosion mechanics and material plating
Experience with IC degradation mechanics and thermal and environmental factors
Experience defining product mission profiles, automating mission-profile testing, and interpreting reliability metrics
