Description

Ridgeline is hiring a Staff Security Engineer - AI Security & Platforms to architect secure-by-default AI platforms, guardrails, and reusable frameworks; mitigate AI-specific risks such as prompt injection, data leakage, and trust-boundary violations; secure agentic and tool-use systems; establish responsible AI standards; build AI-augmented security tooling; and mentor engineers. The role requires 8+ years of experience in application security, cloud security, or security-focused software engineering, advanced proficiency in a high-level language, hands-on AI/LLM tooling, and applied experience securing or building AI/LLM-powered systems. The position is based in San Ramon, California, or Reno, Nevada, and offers a starting salary of $205,000-$256,000 plus stock options and employee insurance plans.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: 8+ years of experience in application security, cloud security, or security-focused software engineering, including leading complex cross-functional initiatives
Applied experience securing or building AI/LLM-powered systems, or a clear track record of quickly mastering a new technical domain
Hands-on daily use of AI/LLM tooling, ability to engineer systems using it, and judgment to validate AI output for correctness and risk
Preferred Qualifications: Advanced proficiency in Python
Kotlin or TypeScript
Hands-on experience with prompt-injection prevention, LLM input/output sanitization, or agent/tool-use/MCP security
Experience building developer platforms or security guardrail frameworks that scale across an organization
Contributions to AI security research, open-source security tooling, or emerging AI security standards
Familiarity with cloud-native security at scale using AWS and infrastructure-as-code with Terraform
