Description

BuildOps is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to architect, build, and optimize a full-stack commercial contracting platform across React.js, Node.js, GraphQL, REST APIs, databases, observability, testing, and infrastructure. The role leads technical decisions, mentors engineers, drives best practices, and works in a distributed team. It requires 8+ years of software engineering experience, strong full-stack JavaScript/TypeScript expertise, and a hybrid schedule with Monday/Friday work-from-home and Tuesday–Thursday office days. The compensation is $172,000–$229,000 base salary plus annual bonus and equity, with hubs in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, and Raleigh.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Required Previous Experiences: 8+ years of software engineering experience focused on full-stack development in modern JavaScript/TypeScript
Experience building and maintaining scalable frontend architectures with React.js and state management
Backend development experience with Node.js, GraphQL APIs, and RESTful services
Database technology experience with SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar systems
Experience optimizing frontend and backend performance, including indexing, caching, and rendering
Experience with event-driven architecture, messaging systems, and real-time data processing
Experience with containerization and cloud infrastructure
Experience working in CI/CD environments
Experience mentoring and coaching engineers
Preferred Qualifications: Prior knowledge or ability to quickly learn Python for backend development
