Description

Murmuration is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to lead the Explorer product from pilot to general availability and establish secure, scalable, reliable, and maintainable engineering practices. The role involves architecting backend services, interactive data visualizations, and responsive user interfaces; driving test strategy and technical quality; mentoring senior engineers; and leading multi-team initiatives. Candidates need 10+ years of full-stack software engineering experience, production launch experience, secure coding and access-control expertise, data and cloud infrastructure knowledge, and experience with event-driven architectures, databases, pipelines, caching, observability, and AI APIs. The position is full-time, salaried, open to candidates anywhere in the United States, and offers a starting salary of $225,324 plus comprehensive benefits.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: 10+ years of professional software engineering experience
Experience taking a product from beta to general availability
Experience driving secure coding, data privacy, and access control in production systems
Experience writing, maintaining, and driving test strategy at the team or product level
Experience with event-driven and asynchronous processing patterns
Experience with analytical or columnar datastores
Experience with Snowflake and dbt data warehousing and transformation workflows
Experience with Dagster or Airflow data pipeline orchestration
Experience with cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, and production software at scale
Experience integrating LLM or AI APIs into production applications
Experience with geospatial or map-based data visualization and JavaScript libraries
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with voter file data
Experience with or interest in political data
Background in political technology, civic technology, advocacy, or mission-driven organizations
Experience applying AI/ML techniques to voter or political data

This is a full-time, salaried position with a comprehensive benefits package, open to candidates anywhere in the United States. Respective starting salaries below:
Staff Software Engineer (P5): $225,324
