PayPal is hiring a senior engineering leadership role that coordinates engineers, determines technical tasks, makes technical decisions, improves engineering structures and processes, and represents the company to external partners. The role leads architecture and technical strategy for complex, cross-team systems; drives AI-native engineering practices; mentors senior engineers; and owns high-risk technical problems. It requires 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, large-scale distributed-systems architecture, deep language expertise, distributed-systems knowledge, cross-team technical influence, and hands-on experience with AI-assisted development and production LLMs. The role follows a balanced hybrid model with three office days and two flexible work days, and includes healthcare coverage.
