Description

PeopleLoop is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and delivery of core platform services, including events, audit, EDI, compliance graph, enrollment orchestrator, AI agents, and multi-tenant infrastructure. The role owns architecture, quality, RFCs, mentorship, observability, data pipelines, and developer experience across Python FastAPI, Node/TypeScript NestJS, AWS, and related technologies. Candidates need 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years at Senior or Staff level, strong production Python and Node/TypeScript experience, database and workflow-engine expertise, and experience shipping LLM or agent features.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
Required Previous Experiences: 7+ years of software engineering experience
2+ years at Senior or Staff level owning cross-team initiatives
Strong production experience building Python services
Deep experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and at least one of Kafka/MSK, Kinesis, or EventBridge
Hands-on AWS experience, including Step Functions or a comparable workflow engine
Experience shipping at least one LLM- or agent-backed feature to production
Experience designing and operating multi-tenant systems with strong security and privacy guarantees
Preferred Qualifications: Benefits, PEO, or EOR domain experience
Production use of graph databases with Cypher or Gremlin
Workflow engines such as Temporal, Step Functions, or Airflow
Authorization engines and policy-as-code
CDC pipelines and lakehouse architectures
DSLs or rules engines for carrier mappings or compliance checks
Agent evaluation tooling and prompt or model registries
Vector stores and hybrid retrieval
