Squarespace is hiring a Backend Staff Software Engineer to lead the technical direction of its Communications Platform team, which powers email, push notifications, and in-product messaging. The role owns architecture, platform modernization, reliability, security, and engineering standards; provides hands-on technical leadership and mentorship; and works closely with cross-functional stakeholders. It is a hybrid position based in the New York City office three days per week and requires 10+ years of backend engineering experience, deep Java expertise, and production distributed-systems experience. The cash compensation range is $185,500 to $299,000 USD, with medical, retirement, leave, and other benefits.
