Affirm is hiring a senior backend engineering leader for its Ledger Engineering team to set technical strategy, manage critical business-impacting projects, collaborate across product development, and own team operations, availability, monitoring, testing, alerting, and on-call processes. The role requires 8+ years of experience building scalable backend systems with Python or Kotlin, distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes, and experience in financial systems or ledgering. The position is remote-first, with base pay of $230,000–$290,000 per year in California, Washington, New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut, and $204,000–$264,000 per year in other U.S. states.
