Pilot is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for its Takeoff team to lead ambiguous, cross-team technical initiatives involving core accounting and bookkeeping systems. The role sets architecture and technical strategy, builds and deploys typed Python backend services and related frontend/infrastructure systems, improves reliability, and mentors engineers. It is fully remote but limited to employees in the United States states of California, Georgia, New York, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington, with a base salary of $200,000–$240,000 in most remote locations and $230,000–$280,000 in San Francisco and New York City.
