Confluent is hiring a Staff Software Engineer I to advance the Tableflow project, which builds multi-modal storage for Kora. The role focuses on table schematization, materialization, and compaction at massive scale, as well as multi-tenant, highly available compute infrastructure for background storage tasks. Responsibilities include designing scalable storage strategies, maintaining reliable infrastructure, and collaborating with product, design, and engineering teams. The posting requires a BS, MS, or PhD in computer science or a related field or equivalent work experience, along with strong communication and collaboration skills; familiarity with Apache Kafka, Apache Iceberg, Apache Flink, and public clouds is advantageous.
