M&S is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for its Promising team to lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and production support of order management and promising capabilities. The role focuses on building resilient services, APIs, integrations, and decisioning systems that support inventory visibility, delivery promises, sourcing, and fulfilment across digital and retail channels. It requires deep backend engineering experience, IBM Sterling order management expertise, strong Java and enterprise integration skills, and experience with CI/CD, observability, and production support. The engineer will also shape technical direction, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with product and cross-functional teams.
