Google is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for its ML Network Infrastructure team to lead the technical strategy and architecture of next-generation control planes and software infrastructure for highly available machine-learning network fabrics. The role involves designing and implementing distributed services and abstractions, developing agentic software development lifecycles using LLMs and automated workflows, driving requirements through global deployment, collaborating with networking and Cloud teams, and mentoring engineers. The position requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, 8 years of C++ programming experience, and extensive experience with software testing, large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, and software architecture. Preferred qualifications include advanced degrees, data structures and algorithms experience, technical leadership, complex organizational experience, and data center networking expertise. The listed compensation is $207,000–$300,000 USD plus a 20% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
