Google Cloud's Persistent Disk team is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to lead the technical strategy and execution of a custom 1600Gbps Infrastructure Processing Unit platform. The role owns software from concept through production, develops high-performance firmware, simulators, and software stacks, and collaborates with ASIC teams to influence custom silicon architecture. Responsibilities include technical leadership, coaching distributed engineers, aligning cross-team goals, and managing project priorities. The position requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, 8 years of software development experience, and experience with embedded operating systems, software product launches, and software design and architecture.
