Description

Decagon is hiring a founding Platform Engineer, Security to design, build, and operate secure, multi-tenant infrastructure for its conversational AI platform. The role focuses on secure service creation, Terraform and GitOps, automation, observability, secrets management, IAM, automated remediation, and translating enterprise compliance requirements into technical controls. It requires 8+ years of production infrastructure experience, cloud expertise, infrastructure-as-code proficiency, systems programming, secure container and Kubernetes practices, and incident-response experience. The position offers $200,000–$400,000 plus equity and full-time benefits.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: 8+ years building and operating production infrastructure, with meaningful exposure to security or a strong interest in moving deeper into security problems
Deep knowledge of Google Cloud Platform and/or AWS, including compute, networking, IAM, and security services
Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code and a track record of building developer-facing tooling and automation
Strong coding ability in at least one systems language and comfort building paved-path tooling teams actually adopt
Experience applying AI-assisted tooling to make engineers more effective
Experience with secure container deployment, service mesh, and Kubernetes security best practices
Observability and incident-response tooling experience with instrumentation, alerting, and dashboards
Clear written communication and the ability to translate ambiguous requirements into simple, reliable designs
Preferred Qualifications: Track record as an early or founding platform, infrastructure, or security engineer at another company
Experience building internal platforms, service templates, paved-road deployment, self-serve environments, or developer portals
Security-minded software supply-chain approach and familiarity with static analysis tooling
Experience with detection and response data pipelines
Knowledge of enterprise compliance requirements from an infrastructure and platform perspective
