Description
Gusto is hiring a Tax Engineer to own the technical strategy and full-stack development of tax-related experiences, including adding and updating tax information, payments, filings, and foundational systems. The role collaborates across engineering, product, design, data science, compliance, and operations; mentors engineers; and applies AI tools to improve development, code quality, testing, and customer workflows. Candidates need 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with React, TypeScript, and Ruby on Rails, SQL, or another backend language, along with experience in large, complex codebases and a preference for payroll, taxes, or compliance. The role is based in Denver, San Francisco, or New York City, with hybrid office expectations of approximately 2–3 days per week.
