Description
The Standing Master will work under the direction of judges in the 8th Judicial District, conducting preliminary criminal proceedings, domestic relations hearings, civil trials, discovery conferences, settlement conferences, and other court proceedings. The role involves researching legal issues, writing findings, conclusions, and orders, applying statutes and case law, and exercising independent judgment in an office or courtroom setting. Applicants must have graduated from an accredited law school, completed three years of practicing law in Montana before appointment, hold a current Montana bar certificate, and be eligible to practice before Montana courts.
