Description
This role involves the decontamination, washing, processing, and sterilizing of all sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies across the hospital system. Key responsibilities include setting up and assembling instruments for operating room cases, ensuring adherence to infection control techniques, accurately managing inventory, operating various sterilizers like plasma gas sterilizers and steam autoclaves, identifying heat-sensitive instruments, analyzing departmental needs for improvements, and performing biological and chemical monitoring. A high school diploma or GED equivalent along with a certificate in sterile processing is required, and prior healthcare experience is preferred. Candidates must obtain sterile processing certification through CRCST or SBSPD within one year of hire.
