MTA New York City Transit is hiring a full-time Structure Maintainer – Group E (Plumber) for various work locations. The role installs, maintains, and repairs plumbing fixtures, pipes, vents, hot water heaters, and related systems in subway, surface, and elevated structures; may also perform flagging, vehicle loading and driving, and incidental painting. Applicants must meet specified plumbing apprenticeship, journey-level experience, or education requirements, pass a civil service exam, and obtain a Class A or Class B New York commercial driver license or a qualifying motor vehicle license with a Class B learner permit. The position pays $37.16 per hour initially, with a sixth-year rate of $43.72 per hour, and includes medical, pension, paid leave, and shift differentials.
