Description

This is an on-call substitute classroom assistant position assisting teachers and teacher aides in daily classroom and kitchen routines, as well as evening childcare for policy council. The role involves working with young children in various settings like classrooms, playgrounds, and learning trips. It requires a compassionate approach, awareness of legal acts regarding special needs, and adherence to KCR's mission, vision, and core values.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: One year experience working with children age birth to five years old.
Preferred Qualifications: Recognition and compassion for low-income people.
Awareness and sensitivity to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Ability to physically match the activity level of infants, toddlers, and/or preschool-aged children.
Ability to intermittently sit, stand, walk, twist, and bend.
Ability to get down on the child’s eye level and floor.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Simple grasping and hand manipulation required as well as reaching above and below shoulder level.
Ability to withstand exposure to noise in a classroom setting.
Ability to build secure, nurturing relationships with children and families.
Cognitive ability to recognize and address safety concerns.
Cognitive and emotional ability to work directly with clients in need, which may include homelessness, mental health issues, substance abuse, or other mental or physical barriers.
Ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions.
Cognitive ability to discern accuracy and apply it to work as necessary.
