Description
The School Bus Driver operates a school bus on activity trips and routes, transporting students and other passengers safely and efficiently. The role includes route scheduling, passenger pickup and discharge, vehicle safety inspections, cleaning, fuel and fluid maintenance, special-education and wheelchair assistance, passenger behavior management, first aid, incident reporting, recordkeeping, emergency evacuations, and communication with dispatch. The position requires high school completion, 20 hours of classroom instruction, 20 hours of behind-the-wheel training, one year of large-transit school bus experience, and current California Class A or B commercial driver licenses with the required endorsements, a medical examination report, a school bus special driver certificate, and a First Aid certificate. The driver may backfill daily student routes and work on-call as needed.
