Abilities First, Inc. is hiring a Substitute Special Education Teacher for its LaGrange School program in Poughkeepsie, New York. The role provides as-needed substitute instruction for school-age children, supports classroom activities and lesson plans, conducts assessments, develops IEPs and progress notes, manages the learning environment, coordinates with related-service staff and parents, and maintains student safety. The schedule is 32.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., for 48 weeks per year, with pay of $27.15 to $32.15 per hour. Applicants need a master’s degree in Special Education with appropriate New York State teaching certification or a bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; experience with students with disabilities is preferred, and physical ability to assist with wheelchair movement and other classroom activities is required.
