Description
The Surgical Technician participates in operating room procedures, assists nurses and other clinicians with patient care, maintains aseptic technique, prepares and maintains sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment, and anticipates surgeon needs. The role requires knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, terminology, instrumentation, specialty OR equipment, electrocautery, suction, surgical tables, autoclave and Steris processes, and patient safety. Candidates may be graduates of an accredited surgical technician school, licensed practical nurses, or graduates of qualifying U.S. military or Public Health Service surgical technology training; recent graduates may receive on-the-job training. The position includes on-call and rotating-shift duties, continuing education, CPR maintenance, and staff orientation responsibilities.
