Applied Materials is hiring a full-time Optical System Engineer VI (E4) in Santa Clara, California, to lead optical, mechanical, electrical, software, algorithm, and systems engineering teams developing next-generation optical inspection and metrology tools. The role converts requirements into system specifications, develops optical designs and budgets, troubleshoots complex engineering problems, manages technical projects, develops vendors, creates test plans and optical benches, and supports system integration. Candidates need an MS or PhD in a relevant technical field, 5–15 years of experience, knowledge of optical physics and system engineering, and familiarity with tools such as Zemax, Code V, Python, or MATLAB.
