Description

OKAPI:Orbits is hiring a Java Team Lead to provide hands-on Java development while leading and developing a team of five Java developers. The role involves designing and operating scalable, event-driven services, contributing to architecture and software quality, conducting code reviews, improving engineering processes, and supporting deployment, monitoring, and operations. The position requires extensive Java backend experience, strong software architecture and engineering-practice knowledge, people-leadership ability, and German and English at least at B2 level. The role is based in Braunschweig, with onboarding in Braunschweig followed by on-site work.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: Several years of practical software development experience with Java, focusing on backend systems and event-driven architectures, including message queues or asynchronous processing.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a technical or people leadership role, such as Team Lead, Tech Lead, or a comparable position with real people responsibility.
Experience building and developing high-performing engineering teams.
Practical experience with Python in a backend or data-processing context.
Knowledge of cloud technologies, containerization, or modern deployment processes, such as Docker or Kubernetes.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps-oriented working methods.
Knowledge of observability topics such as logging, metrics, or tracing.
Experience in a regulated, safety-critical, or otherwise technically demanding environment.
Interest in or experience with the aerospace or space industry.
