Mercor is hiring an Applied AI Backend Systems Tech Lead to own the architecture and production reliability of backend services, data models, APIs, orchestration systems, and high-throughput pipelines. The role combines hands-on development, architectural decision-making, design review, mentoring senior engineers, infrastructure-as-code management, on-call incident response, and cross-team alignment. Candidates need at least 8 years of backend engineering experience, strong distributed-systems and database skills, production-service experience, and familiarity with modern AI development tools.
