Description
The Product Design Engineering Technologist develops head-media interfaces for magnetic recording media used in Western Digital hard disk drives. The role focuses on improving sputtering processes, optimizing magnetic areal density, conducting recording-media testing and validation, analyzing manufacturing data, and supporting the transition of designs from development to high-volume production. It requires a master's or PhD in a relevant materials or engineering field and at least 15 years of engineering development or R&D experience in magnetic recording media for hard disk drives.
