Description
The Test Technician commissions and tests primary and secondary power equipment in the field, including medium- to high-voltage substation equipment such as breakers, switchgears, relays, transformers, SCADA, and protection systems. The role also involves interpreting test reports, diagnosing equipment performance, maintaining safety standards, and mentoring apprentices and junior technicians. Candidates need an electrical engineering diploma or degree, at least four years of field testing and commissioning experience, substation experience, relay-testing experience, and a valid Class 5 driver’s license. The estimated pay range is $66–$79 USD, with medical, dental, and vision benefits.
