Description
The New York City Department of Transportation is hiring an Assistant Civil Engineer in its Traffic Operations Division, Signals Timing & Intersection Control Unit, to support bus-priority street infrastructure projects under the Bus Action Streets Plan. Responsibilities include geometric and traffic engineering design, traffic studies and safety analysis, CAD drafting, field inspections, Transit Signal Priority and signal timing analysis, GIS and project-record maintenance, construction verification, and coordination with internal teams, the MTA, utilities, and community stakeholders. The position is based in Long Island City, New York, is scheduled for 35 hours per week, and may allow remote work up to two days per week. Applicants must be permanent Assistant Civil Engineers, have filed for Open Competitive Exam #7006, or qualify under the 55-a program.
