Description

STV is seeking a Traffic Design Engineer to join their Transportation & Infrastructure division in North Carolina or South Carolina. This role focuses on technical production, primarily traffic signal and ITS design, while also supporting broader traffic design elements like signing, pavement marking, and work zone traffic control plans. The engineer will develop high-quality traffic signal designs, prepare ITS designs, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, conduct field reviews, and mentor junior engineers.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
Required Previous Experiences: 10+ years of traffic engineering or transportation design experience
Strong experience developing traffic signal designs is required
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with ITS infrastructure and communications design is preferred
NC or SC Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; ability to obtain licensure in the Carolinas is required
Experience working with NCDOT or SCDOT and local municipalities in the Carolinas is highly desired
Proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD, and applicable DOT CADD standards
Experience with ORD preferred
Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently while supporting a team environment
