Description
The Yard Switching Supervisor supervises and coordinates train crews that switch railroad cars in yards, industrial plants, or similar locations to facilitate loading and unloading, make up or break up trains, and maintain safe and efficient operations. The role includes directing switching orders, managing car movements and reporting, investigating accidents and incidents, understanding railroad costs and track conditions, and training yard personnel. It requires at least three years of prior trainmen experience, current locomotive engineer and conductor certification, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
