Description
King County Metro is hiring part-time Transit Operators to provide safe, courteous, and reliable bus service in King County. The role includes assisting passengers, following traffic laws and safety procedures, operating transit vehicles and equipment, communicating with the Transit Control Center, and reporting safety concerns. No prior driving experience is required because paid training is provided, and trainees typically work seven days per week during training. After graduation, operators may work varied schedules, with part-time operators guaranteed a minimum of 12.5 hours per week. The position requires a valid driver license, ability to obtain a Washington State Commercial Learner's Permit and Class B CDL with passenger and air-brake endorsements, and a five-year driving record meeting the stated criteria. Applicants must be at least 21 years old and may work at any King County Metro transit base, with initial training at the Norfolk Training Center in Tukwila. Part-time Operator trainees are paid $23.08 per hour, while new hires after training start at $31.39 per hour.
