Description

Paid internship for currently enrolled high school and college students in an engineering or related science program. The intern supports TxDOT transportation engineering activities, including construction and maintenance inspection, laboratory testing, surveying, traffic and accident data collection, drafting, records processing, spreadsheets and databases, and other entry-level engineering work under specific instructions and frequent supervision. The position requires at least 30 hours per week during the semester and may involve outdoor, physically demanding, safety-impact work.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Currently enrolled in an engineering or related science degree program at an accredited college or university accepted by TX PELS.
Preferred Qualifications: At least 16 years old and a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the United States.
Availability to work at least 30 hours per week during the semester.
Valid driver's license if 18 or older for potential driving duties; ability to use power tools where assigned.
Willingness and ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug testing for this safety-impact position.
Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
