Description
The Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking a Transportation Operator to perform roadway maintenance through equipment operation, preventive maintenance, emergency response, traffic control, and manual labor. The role includes operating light, medium, and heavy-duty highway equipment; removing snow, ice, and debris; cleaning up after accidents; installing and maintaining work-zone traffic control devices; conducting inspections and minor repairs; and following VDOT, OSHA, VOSHA, DOT, and MUTCD requirements. The position requires heavy manual labor, effective communication, the ability to follow plans and instructions, operation of hand and power tools and highway maintenance equipment, and the ability to obtain a CDL and DOT medical card within 11 months of employment.
