Description
The Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator performs technical and skilled work operating and maintaining water treatment plants, ground-water wells, water storage tanks, lift stations, and associated facilities. Duties include collecting and analyzing water and wastewater samples, monitoring plant processes and instrumentation, checking chemical feed equipment, reading meters and gauges, maintaining records, performing minor repairs, handling chemicals, and conducting inspections. The role requires high school graduation, 1–2 years of water or sewer system operation experience or equivalent training, and a grade C water treatment plant operation certification within two years of employment; shift work is required.
