Description

The Sewer and Wastewater Maintenance Worker performs unskilled to semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on sewer lines, wastewater pumping stations, storage tanks, meters, and related facilities. Duties include inspections, preventive maintenance, pump and pipe repairs, equipment operation, site cleaning, lawn maintenance, recordkeeping, and traffic flagging. The role requires physical work in outdoor and indoor environments, exposure to hazards, on-call or callback work, and regular supervision. Applicants need high school graduation, related mechanical, plumbing, utility construction, or maintenance experience, a Grade 1 Collection System Operator’s certification or ability to obtain it within 18 months, and a valid North Carolina driver’s license; a commercial driver’s license may be required.
