Description
The Veterinary Assistant supports veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians in an animal shelter’s medical department by providing basic animal care, screening and documenting medical findings, administering topical and oral medications, assisting with diagnostics and surgery, maintaining records, and performing husbandry and restraint tasks. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, at least 12 months of animal-care experience in a veterinary or shelter setting, willingness to obtain euthanasia certification, and the ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for prolonged periods. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with Saturday and Sunday off, and the position may occasionally require work at other ACC locations.
